Delicious Red Sauce Made In The Instant Pot

A chef is only as good as their red sauce. With that being said… how’s yours? If it needs a little work, or if you find yourself slaving over a pot for far too long, it might be worth your time to check out a new recipe. Creamy, rich, and packed with flavor, this red sauce is going to take your bland spaghetti noodles to a whole new level. Using the Instant Pot to perfect your masterpiece will help shave off some time and effort on your end, too, so let’s get started on this soon-to-be family favorite.

What You Need

It’s time to gather up your basics: olive oil, bone-in beef short ribs, country-style pork ribs, onion, garlic, tomato paste, dry red wine, can of peeled tomatoes, hot Italian sausage links, salt and pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes.

What To Do

Set your Instant Pot to saute and heat up the oil. Brown the short ribs and then set them to the side. Toss in onions and garlic and cook them for about 5 minutes. In goes the tomato paste, and give it a good stir. Next, add the wine and watch some of the bits on the bottom start to rise. Let it boil for about two minutes until it reduced by about half. Then add in tomatoes, beef, pork, sausages, salt and pepper, and then the red pepper flakes. Lock the lid and let it cook on high pressure for 50 minutes. After the timer goes off, let the pressure release and remove the meat from the sauce to collect all of the fat and bones. Chop it up and add it back into the sauce. Pressure cook it on high for about 5 more minutes, now it’s time to enjoy!

How To Eat

Perhaps the most important tip we could give to you is how to consume this gorgeous sauce. Obviously, it’s made to sit atop a stack of pasta. But if you wanted to get a little more creative, you could experiment by frying some chicken breasts and baking them with this sauce plus some fresh mozzarella on top. Or, you could spread it on some crispy bread and add basil. No matter how you spin it, this sauce is a winner.
