What’s New With The 2020 Nissan Frontier

A red 2020 Nissan Frontier pickup truck coasting down a sand dune.

For the last 20+ years, the Nissan Frontier has provided an affordable option in the midsize pickup class, even as competitors’ prices skyrocketed throughout the years. Though significantly more affordable than many other midsize trucks, the Nissan Frontier still has modern features that help you get the job done with comfort and style, and a few exciting updates for the 2020 model year. Let’s explore what’s new for the 2020 Nissan Frontier.

All-New Powertrain

One of the most exciting updates for the 2020 model year is the all-new powertrain the Frontier is sporting. A brand-new 3.8-liter V6 engine produces 310 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque. The V6 is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission that’s very similar to the one found in Nissan’s full-size trucks. This engine replaces the 4.0-liter V6 and 4.0-liter 4-cylinder engines which were paired to manual transmissions or a 5-speed automatic.

Modern Amenities

Inside the Frontier, you’ll find all of the updated amenities and infotainment options you could want in such a reasonably priced truck. You can stream your music seamlessly with Bluetooth®* connectivity; a standard backup camera offers extra reassurance when you’re leaving your driveway or a crowded parking lot; and dual-zone automatic climate control keeps you perfectly cool or warm with each passing season.

2020 Configurations

In addition to the three trim levels, S, SV, and Pro-4x, Nissan offers three cab/bed configurations for the 2020 Frontier:

  • King Cab® – the bed of the King Cab is over six feet long to accommodate your biggest cargo. Plus, wide-swinging pillarless rear doors offer easy access to the rear of the cab.
  • Crew Cab – the crew cab offers spacious seating for five paired with a 59.5-inch bed, perfect for those who wish they could drive an SUV but need the extra power and capacity a truck provides.
  • Crew Cab Long Bed – this configuration combines the best of the two previous configurations with a roomy cab and a 73.3-inch-long bed – there’s nothing this Frontier can’t handle.
