Enjoy Cooked-To-Order BBQ From Golden Rule

The Golden Rule BBQ and Grill has been a staple in Alabama since the first restaurant opened in Irondale in 1891. As such, the BBQ joint is the oldest continuously running restaurant in Alabama, and the 16th oldest in the country. The original building was located along a dirt road not far from its current location in Irondale. It not only sold BBQ, but it dabbled in grocery sales as well as making the occasional automobile repair.

Since then, the BBQ joint has expanded its reach throughout Alabama with nine current locations, with three expected to open in Hoover, English Village, and UAB.

The Golden Rule BBQ and Grill focuses on pit-cooked BBQ that gives you that homemade feeling. It serves everything from classic pork sandwiches to fully loaded spuds. The pit joint in Andalusia is now under new management thanks to new owners Adam and Christy Turner, and the two have big plans for the popular Andalusia restaurant.

For one, they are contemplating a name change, along with the possibility of introducing live entertainment. The Turners recently told the The Andalusia Star News, “We want to broaden our name and make it a little more special to us. We want to make it known that we are not just barbecue, and we do a whole lot more than that.”

In addition, Golden Rule BBQ and Grill of Andalusia will soon add alfredo and sweet potatoes to the menu. The buffet will also reopen after it closed this past year as a result of public health and safety mandates.

The menu consists of a variety of foods ranging from a loaded baked potato, BBQ combo plates, BBQ brisket sandwiches, ribs, chicken, and much more.
